Madame Tussauds

Madame Marie Tussaud was born in 1761 in Strasbourg and created her first wax figure at the age of 16. After first designing a bust of the French philosopher Voltaire, she continued by creating models of other contemporary figures such as Benjamin Franklin and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In 1835, the artist established her first permanent exhibition on Baker Street in London. The wax museum now has branches all over the world.?The exhibits themselves are spread over several floors, where you can get up-close and personal with contemporary and historic political leaders, sports stars and musicians such as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Gruesome London legends, such as that of serial murderer Jack the Ripper, are told in the Chamber of Horrors. Madame Tussauds also includes the neighbouring former planetarium, which can be visited on a combination ticket and now houses a "4D" cinema.?
