National Gallery

View some of the most important paintings in the history of art in the National Gallery.?The National Gallery is home to a large selection of historic paintings from the renaissance to modern era.
Works of art by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh, among many others, can be viewed here. French impressionism, in particular, is well represented: Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and van Gogh are among the most viewed artists in the National Gallery. The British romanticist painter William Turner's "The Fighting Temeraire" and the "Virgin of the Rocks", an early da Vinci painting, are among the most popular individual exhibits.
The National Gallery has been located at Trafalgar Square since 1838. Its extensive collection soon ensured it became the most important gallery in England, with numerous renaissance paintings finding their home in the National Gallery by the end of the 19th century. Visitors should make sure to cast a glance at the magnificent building that houses the collection before they enter, which along with several other key constructions in the city centre came to define the Victorian era.
